What; Why; How; When

  • What
    A modular scheme for leaders to give them the tools to provide ‘Good Scouting’, to build on existing skills and knowledge and develop new competencies.
  • Why
    To ensure that young people experience good quality Scouting. The Scout Association requires each adult in Scouting to demonstrate a range of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are relevant to their Scouting role.
  • How
    There are 2 elements to the Adult Training Scheme.
    Learning – When you have the opportunity to gain or improve the knowledge and skills that you need for your role.
    Validation – When your Training Adviser will check that you can apply what you have learnt to your role. Validation is essential for every module.
  • When
    Getting Started (1,2,3, Safety, Safeguarding & GDPR) within 5 months of appointment
    Wood badge modules within 3 years 5 months of appointment.

  • Validation – The system to ensure the leaders have the knowledge and can apply it to their Scouting.

  • Attend an Open Validation Session and meet a Training Adviser

If required complete any learning for Module 3, (Tools for the Role) arrange to meet at Training Advisor to have it validated.
